My guest for this episode is Dan Kittredge of the Bionutrient Food Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the word about nutrient dense farming methods, nutrient dense foods, and ultimately to develop a device so growers and consumers to measure the nutritional quality of food in a way that is backed by scientific evidence.

If this is your first exposure to this idea, you may want to start with the episode “An Introduction to Nutrient Dense Farming with Mary Johnson.” Mary provides an excellent overview of the ideas at the core of the discussion with Dan Kittredge and the wrok of the Bionutrient Food Association.

      Scott,
I listened to the nutrient dense foods podcast, hoping that, at the end of the interview, there would be information about the soon to be released “gadget” that would measure food nutrients in the store. It was not to be! I mean, really, who wouldn’t want a device like that? It would steer producers and retailers in a unified direction almost overnight. Instead we were treated to a long discussion about a device that is many years in the future. I suspect that you are trying to simulate discussion about technology and future applications. Not a bad goal. Just need to manage expectations on the part of your listeners.

      thanks
      Arnold

I just wanted to come in and comment on not only this show in particular (your interviews are, overall, very excellent, my friend!) but to also comment on the series in total. Your Permaculture Podcast manages to, amazingly enough, combine the mental nourishment of information with loads numerous instances of “how to”s and calls to action that threaten to give one purpose.

Not only has this show inspired me into looking into CSAs in my local area, but also inspired me to start discussions of an initiative within the Head Start Program in which I work and utilize them to help feed our low-to-no income families. Regardless whether or not this initiative comes to pass, I want to thank you and your guests for producing this show and educating me on this fascinating topic.
